I've always admired people who decorate their house like an art form. Not necessarily all rules and match colors and styles in a creative, almost bohemian style decoration. The result is a home that truly reflects the personality of their owners. The hard part is to achieve this and still have a house that is marketable as from a resale standpoint.
One couple in particular comes to mind. They were both artists, who had a conventional job, but managed to use their home as a canvas. Each room was completely unique, inspired by the treasures of hours hunting for antiques, and ornate chandeliers carved original furnishings, and reuse columns and doors selected for their architectural originality. The art gallery of children had a 12 foot papier-mache dragon suspended from the ceiling, with huge bright wings.
This is an extreme example of the artistic decoration, but there are some things the average person can do to spice up your home, and make decorating a little more original.
Do not be shy to show their collections. If you're a collector, you've probably spent many hours and money to complete the set of china tea cups or glass of cranberry dishes. Whatever your theme may be, show it off. This means carrying out the special plates and dishes for dinner and not leave them hidden in closet.
Combining elements of group items with similar uses, colors and shapes. It is much more dramatic, have a collection of old medicine bottles in a group that placed individually, here and there. A collection of ceramics blue, in different sizes and shapes are merged together when displayed on a shelf or table.
Articles with similar themes, like a bottle of wine with a couple of drinks of wine on each side, may seem more interesting than if shown separately. A collection of artworks with similar tables also can be hung as a group.
The fabric looks fabulous. Outside era hats, scarves or unusual pieces of fabric for use as an attractive accent pieces.
Recycling and reuse. Scour business recovery architecture for one-of-a-kind, such as articles, reclaimed columns, floors, doors, ornamental fireplaces and wrought iron. These types of pieces to add character to your home and make an interesting decoration.
By Above all, do not be shy when it comes to artistic decoration, you have to be willing to get out of the box and explore new possibilities. Pour yourself a glass of wine, look around the room and start your creative adventure!
