If you are currently looking for a wedding album you may be getting a little confused about what is available. You will hear albums called by many names, but in reality there are only two main options, flush mount or matte.

1. Flush Mount Albums:

You may have heard Flush Mount wedding albums called 'storybook', 'Periodical', 'digital' albums or coffee table. Everyone these are basically the same thing, a picture or a design of multiple images, printed on a page and bound in an album, the image reaches the edge of the page without borders. Flush mounts are versatile, imagine some of the ways a luxury magazine page can be set and you'll get the idea. Albums are designed by the wedding photographer, designer or directly by the manufacturer of the disc. Pages are set out using design software and can use one or more pictures per page. There are endless possibilities of different designs: Panoramic photos can be established over two pages without a break in the spine, an image can be used as background and others named in the top, borders and effects may apply to each individual image. If you are using a good designer you should end up with a completely unique log of your day.

One of the great advantages of color assemblies is the ability to produce copies at a reduced cost. Once your album is designed and stored as a digital file that can easily be reproduced at different sizes with different covers. This makes ideal for copies of the parents and even miniature versions for friends and family.

Different types of flush mount albums:

While the process design for all media is the same color, there are variations in how albums are printed and bound. Albums are printed on high quality photo paper mounted on board before joining in an album. This makes it very robust discs and photo paper offers a fantastic variety of colors and tones.
Other albums (often called "books" instead of 'albums') can be printed through a digital press. This gives a quality similar to lithography print a good quality book of photography. The pages are thinner than photo paper and not mounted on board, therefore more likely to suffer long-term damage.

Both types can produce excellent results, although I always recommend an album photo paper principal.

How do you know what?

2. Matted albums:
