The era of Mughal miniature paintings, owns a notable page in the history of art of paintings in India. The Mughals - descendants of Tamerlane and Genghis Khan, with strong cultural ties with the Persian world - became the rules of northern India in 1526 and became the most important Muslim dynasty artistically active in the subcontinent.
The style of miniature painting practiced during this period was clearly influenced by the Persian style of paintings.
