creating depth in an acrylic painting?
I'm painting an abstract painting that I would add depth to ... I want to see in if there are specific areas such as deeper layers, literally, to him (I use a lot of textures, anything I can get my hands, things like a handkerchief paper, etc. to add texture), but I can not figure out how to make things look deeper ... as if the fabric has layers in the image. I know I have to use colors / Light / darkness to create this effect, but do not really know how. Anyone have any suggestions, pictures or advice?
Things behind, will cooler in color, smaller in general and less detailed. Warmer the closer in color, more generally, and more detailed. The line and the value can be used to create the illusion of depth as well. Make good use of perspective. The use of shading will help you look as if things are the top of each other. So layers of shadows things might work (I've done this before and can create an incredible illusion of depth).
