What is the most practical martial art and applies today for self defense?
Whether it's "luxury" I do not care about meditation, or character development, I just want to be better able to defend myself. At this point I was thinking of looking into Defendo (art Bill Underwood martial which separated from combat, not the new, unrelated one) or Emerson Combat Systems. If someone more familiar with the martial arts have any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for something with an emphasis on defensive weapons with the aim of hitting a perpetrator (or perpetrators) unconscious, arms and disarms knife and makeshift weapons.
Look, I'll tell it like it really is. If you are looking for more art practice, then you will be looking for the rest of his life. There is no art more practical. The martial arts themselves are lifeless. It all depends on the martial artists and how they apply their techniques. The answer is within you already. Watch there to find what you want. Include all ranges of combat in their own unique martial art and ensure that the techniques are in practice, and you will not nothing to worry about. You can take different arts and learn the techniques as you go. If you find some that are good for nothing, then just Digard or modify them. You can do this until you have enough strategies to build a foundation. Upon this foundation, you can build on it, trying different random techniqes because Combat is always changing, you have to continue to adapt to it. By going this route, you will more than likely be able to find what you want rather than following a fixed set patterns that originally adapted for the founder of art.
